Shapery Enterprises is an operating company for the various corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies operated thereunder. Shapery Enterprises is, or has been, involved in the ownership, design, and development of high-rise office buildings, high-rise hotels, commercial centers and raw land. Shapery Enterprises is also designing, developing, and implementing technological advances in transportation including vertical take off aircraft, electric zero emissions conversion and upgrade of existing freight and passenger rail systems, non-rail zero emissions roadway passenger and freight systems and port zero emissions container moving systems with LSM/LIM technology and high-speed magnetic levitation train systems.

The challenge for this international competition is to design and present the best proposals for the repositioning of the building located at 101 Ash Street, San Diego, California, USA.
The proposals submission consists of a single part, up to 15 digital images that can be easily and clearly viewed in landscape or portrait format. The presentation technique is absolutely open and at the discretion of the project designer(s). However, the inclusion, within the images, of the following information is mandatory:
NB1: All boards should be submitted separately
NB2: Only JPG format (22.5x28.5 inches / 50x70 cm) at 200 dpi resolution will be considered as the entries,
NB3: Animations of up to 90 sec can be submitted, subject to prior approval
NB4: Due to expected volume of the works, we cannot accept any physical models at this stage. However the images of the physical model are welcomed.
The presentation should clearly document the proposal as well as the approach to the project. Ideas regarding organization, materials, treatment of and access to the location and accessibility within the perimeter as well as the design (including but not limited to architectural, interior, façade and landscape design) should be included. Any other verbal (or numerical) description should be expressed in English only and should be incorporated into the graphic presentation of the project wherever applicable.
The construction budget has been set as 40 Million Dollars - this is an initial estimate and is subject to change
This is a single-stage competition to identify the most appropriate and most consistent proposal in accordance with the general and specific objectives of the contest.
This grand prize international design competition is open to everyone including, but not limited to, design firms, artists, architects, interior designers, students and advanced strategic thinkers of all disciplines. The sponsor of this competition and owner of the building would like to invite individuals and corporates for active participation.
NB1: Individuals, groups or companies directly related to or associated with the sponsor are excluded from participation. This includes its employees, administrative, business partners and executive staff.
NB2: This will NOT apply to the design professionals, architects or architectural firms, or construction companies currently hired by, related to or working for any of the sponsor's organizations.
The total amounts of the prizes equals to: Up to 27,000 US Dollars + The grand prize of collaboration and 20,000 US Dollars as reward
Winner of the 1st Prize: 5,000 US Dollars
Winner of the 2nd Prize: 3,000 US Dollars
Winner of the 3rd Prize: 2,000 US Dollars and
Up to 17 prizes of $1,000 each, for the winners of design for specific areas as indicated in the competition documents.
NB: The grand prize will be in the form of collaboration in the design implementation.
The sponsor reserves all the rights to invite, consult, employ or commission, at their discretion, any company or individual or none, for collaboration and/or to oversee, organize or conduct the implementation of the project based on their competency and commitments.

Once the registration is made and the fee is paid, refunds cannot be offered under any circumstances, should the participant(s) decide(s) to withdraw from the competition.

The sponsor undertakes to protect the integrity of this competition during its entire process by using the individually assigned registration number to identify and handle each proposal in full anonymity and confidentiality. Including, indicating or implying any names, marks, logos, symbols, signs or even registration numbers on any of the submission boards or in the file names that may result in any form or shape in identifying the entry's author(s) is strictly prohibited. Breach of this rule will result in excluding the entry and the competitors from the competition immediately.
